Sharp, powerful colors illuminate Marina Bay in Singapore
Singapore is already one of Asia’s most spectacular cities by day. By night, the i Light Singapore festival in January and February turns it into a magical wonderland.
Held since 2010, the event showcases light art installations that use energy-saving lighting or environmentally-friendly materials to bring vibrancy to public spaces. It is estimated that some 400,000 people watch the event.
Showtec International, Barco’s partner, specializes in large-scale outdoor events that provides tailored consultants and solutions for international concerts and special events. The company was approached to create a spectacular water fixture and chose to work with ACLTD.
The wow factor from a distance
The heart of the piece was a dancing fountain and projection onto water spray in the middle of Marina Bay. In a town used to the spectacular, the bay projections had to be exceptional. This meant they had to be bright and clear enough to produce the wow factor - from a distance. “The amazingly vivid colors of two UDX-4K32 made the performances on Singapore River more dazzling than ever,” according to Chris Ee, Technical Director/ Video Designer at Showtec International.
In addition to the festival’s light shows on land, the graceful water ballet has now become another huge attraction for visitors.
